About

Naoya Hanawa

Owner

Naoya Hanawa was born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1978. After studying Japanese cuisine at culinary school, he spent fifteen years honing his craft at renowned sushi restaurants in Nihonbashi and Ebisu.

His career later took him to London, where he launched a Japanese restaurant and led its kitchen. The experience broadened his perspective and gave him an intuitive understanding of how to welcome guests from different cultures.

In 2014, he opened Sushi Asaba. Today, he continues to welcome guests from Japan and around the world, sharing the traditions of Edomae sushi through his omakase.

Booking Policy

  • A credit card is required through TableCheck to confirm your reservation.
  • Cancellations made the day before your reservation will incur a 50% fee; cancellations or no-shows on the day of your reservation will incur a 100% fee, charged to the card on file.
  • Please arrive on time. We can hold your seats for up to 30 minutes past your reservation time — after that we may be unable to seat you.
  • Your reservation is for the exact number and ages of guests confirmed at the time of booking. If this changes, please let us know in advance.
  • We kindly ask each guest to order at least one drink during the course.
  • Reservations are accepted for guests aged 12 and above.
  • Private dining is available for parties of six adults or more — please contact us directly to arrange.
  • We serve a single, fixed omakase course and are unable to accommodate vegetarian or vegan diets, severe food allergies, or other dietary restrictions — before or after booking. Please take this into account when making your reservation.
  • For the comfort of all guests enjoying the delicate aromas of sushi and sake, we kindly ask that you refrain from wearing strong fragrances. Guests wearing strong scents may be asked to leave.
  • A 10% service charge will be added to your bill.
